(I have shifted this topic away from the CI forum under "Improving Unit Attendance")
Does MOE give money to individual school for the upkeep of facilities and equipment of their NPCC units? If so, how much?
The reason I ask is because my OC keeps on telling the cadets that the Principal will allocate only $50 from the school budget to NPCC if they still get the UOPA Bronze Award.
I dunno whether to believe him or not, but it does sound very scary, considering we plan to get new equipment next year (eg fibreglass M-16 rifles for rifle drills to replace our Mk 4s).
If MOE does contribute to individual NPCC units, I need to noe how they do it, and where the money goes to. Maybe I might find out something my OC doesn't know.
If they don't, then I must prepare myself to slug it out with the school admin, because there is very little a unit can do with $50, esp if it needs a major overhaul. My OC says he would not like to contest the Principal's decision, and I understand his position. But I'm not prepared to take it as it comes.
Sometimes, u have to fight for what u believe in...
Anyone with any info, pls help. Thanks.

$50 is seriously too little. replenishing ranks/badges from HQ Store, transport fees for visits, camps, $50 is not enough man.

Store items are not a problem in my unit... Got excess supply one. But the rest, got real problem if the budget is cut.

Welcome to the political scene, where the word transpency is abuzz, none of us actually knows how money is allocated... Well, my unit have 8 - 10K of budget this yr... but now left 1K or so. Hmm, i think if u need more funds, u need to pull some strings ...

I think every school gets the same amount of money in terms of no of students. It may vary depends on the acheivement of the school.Like a atomuous school will get extra $2+ per students. The normal fund by MOE ,and the extra fund due to acheivement and plus extra fee paid by parents and some support from organisation like NGEE ANN KONGSI which give funds to schoold like Ngee Ann Pri ,Sec,poly.THe most important part is how the school allocate the funds. I think you may want to moblise the whole unit to do performance ,service (helping out the school in archering....)and make your unit popular and useful in your school. This will presure the P to allocate more funds to your unit as the school cannot function well without NPCC helping them out in function like Ceremony,VIPs events..

Same like SAF, u budget the yr before. Then they cut here cut there... see can give u how much. Most of the time u get 80 - 90% of wat u budget. So u got to save on some stuff. They where u getting the fibreglass m16 drill rifles... i interested in getting some for my unit as well.

"3000 - 4000 thousand per year" = $3 million - $4 million (Typo liaoz) Oh, now that makes more sense. Still, its may not be enuf for my unit. Oh well, I guess I have to see how the OC handles it. He told me in no uncertain terms that I should not try to dabble in admin matters without his express consent. Oh well... My OC says he is planning to get fibreglass M-16 rifles. The school's NCC unit has a few, so I guess he is getting the lobang from them. Btw, if the rifles are approved in the budget, it will be a shared resource between NPCC and NCC.
